Kundalini energy is a form of Prana or life force energy. This energy is thought to lie dormant in the body.

The kundalini energy is conceptualized as a coiled serpent lying at the base of the spine and can be awakened by various things.

Kundalini energy can be activated by spiritual practices like yoga, meditation, and even chakra work. This powerful energy can transform your life and create incredible changes.

In order to understand kundalini rising energy, you must also understand how to meditate. Meditation practices are simply a set of techniques that you can use to calm the mind and body.

You can also use certain meditation techniques to create communication between you and your mind and your body.

When you meditate and connect with your breath, you can tune into the body’s life force energy. A daily meditation practice is a great way to cleanse your mind and focus your energy.

Meditation can also help you stay healthy, release hurtful emotions and achieve mindfulness.

Kundalini meditation is a more advanced meditation technique, but there are some simple ways you can engage in it.

Kundalini is thought to be the energy of the divine and it is derived from the Sanskrit word, which means coiled up snake. It is also thought of like a kind of tree of life inside the body. Although Kundalini energy is not recognized by modern science it is mentioned extensively in both Yoga and Tantra.

It is thought to lie or slumber at the base of the spine, but once awakened it can have a profound impact on your life.

Kundalini awakening can release stored up and blocked energy and many things like yoga, meditation or even something like fasting may trigger it. Kundalini is thought to be a primal force and when it is released, it can open up new channels of energy in the body.

Kundalini energy moves up the body through the chakras, the body’s energy system. The chakras run through the body up and down the spine and they are they are connected to the body’s energetic system.

The Chakra system consists of 7 basic levels that correspond to various systems of the body.

Kundalini experience can create a powerful way to heal yourself, but you must be careful not to awaken the energy too quickly. Instead of achieving chakra healing, forcing the energy to awaken before it’s ready can create psychological issues and great stress.

This powerful energy can cleanse and purify the body and when the body’s energy is purified, the energetic vibrations can expand the consciousness.

Signs of Kundalini awakening can include:

  • Muscle twitches and energy rushes
  • Headaches
  • Racing heartbeat
  • Digestive problems
  • Tingling, crawling or itching sensations
  • Alterations in sleep or eating patterns

You might also experience new interests or creative pursuits, psychic experiences, intense understanding or sensitivity or even enlightenment or increased knowledge.

How to do Kundalini Breath of Fire Meditation

Find a quiet place to sit or lie down. Set the intention that you are seeking to awaken the Kundalini energy within. Sit in a comfortable position and stay in that position for the duration of this exercise. Make sure your spine is straight and you are sitting up tall.

Close your eyes and keep them closed until the end of the meditation. You may choose to read through this meditation initially with your eyes open so that you can practice.

Place your hands on your knees with your palms open. Feel your belly expanding with each breath, and contracting with each exhale.

The breath of fire is centered on the naval area. As you breathe in this manner, you will use your diaphragm to quickly move the naval area in and out on each inhale and exhale.

Next, open the mouth and pant quickly. Once you have that rhythm in place, close your mouth and breathe through your nostrils.

Try quickening your breathing pace on the inhale and exhale, but be sure to keep them equal.

Quickly inhale and a quick exhale with no pauses between breaths.  Aim to breathe at a rate of approximately 2-3 breath cycles per second.

Begin practicing for only a few minutes at a time. When this technique is done correctly, your chest will remain relaxed and slightly lifted and your hands, feet, face, and abdomen will also be relaxed.

You can also combine the breath of fire with a kundalini meditation. After completing the breath of fire, breathe normally and concentrate on the energy centers of the body or the seven main chakras that run and down the spine.

Concentrate specifically on the root chakra, at the base of the spine. Continue breathing normally.

Picture a bright white light flowing out from the top of your head exactly where your crown chakra is located. Try and imagine this light flowing from your head and entering your heart and your body with full force.

Next, visualize the same bright white light flowing from the base of your spine and moving up to and entering your heart chakra. Imagine these two lights converging and bursting into your heart. Continue breathing fully and deeply as you do this.

Notice the difference in your body and sense the new energy flowing throughout your body from your head to your toes. If done properly, you will notice a deep feeling of connectedness throughout this meditation process.

Keep your eyes closed and concentrate on your breath and relax. Feel the peace all around you and connect with the essence of spirit that you now feel.

Don’t try to intentionally awaken the kundalini energy, just go where the mediation and breathing practice takes you.

If you start to feel dizzy or lightheaded after the breath of fire slow your pace down until you become more comfortable with the practice.

The more you practice this type of meditation and breathing technique, the happier and healthier you will feel.
